With the weather turning colder, the rebirth of the roast dinner is in full force! Especially at Fearns, based on Leeds, who have created the ultimate Sunday Service menu that makes the classic dish go up a whole new level! Over three courses, we were treated to the ultimate experience that we won’t forget for a long time! Check out our review here!

Good Morning Lovelies,

Here in the UK, the roast dinner that most people of have on a Sunday is a right of passage. I don’t think, even in summer, there was a time where we didn’t have one and my mum’s is hands down one of the best. Yet, when given the opportunity to put another to the test to give her a break, she is quick to accept.

When the amazing team behind Fearns in Leeds asked me if I would like to come along and review their Sunday Service menu, I was therefore quick to agree. From 12pm until 4:30pm, the kitchen dedicates itself to making the best Sunday focused meals of all time and boy are they good.

Based in a beautiful trendy location, Fearns is managed by Ollie, who went above and beyond to welcome us to the restaurant. Honestly, from the moment we walked in, the whole team were incredibly friendly to us, with Ollie explaining every option on the menu in incredible detail. With the opportunity to try two courses each, we decided to share a starter and a dessert, before having our own mains, which Ollie advised us on.

The menu is sleek, highlighting just how much every little detail is thought of, even down to the toilets, giving customers the feeling of being appreciated right away. After much debating, we decided to go with the Bruschetta of the Day to start with. Topped with roasted courgettes and tomatoes, the juices from them oozed into the wonderfully crisp bread, which had equally amounts of flavour. Super fresh and light, it had the essence of a winter warmer, mixed with a hint of summer that we both loved.

Having finished the dish, we decided to have a look around the restaurant. Set out in a wide open space, the restaurant suited both diners and those working, as there was lots of room to host all kinds of situations. In fact, it was the most perfect spot to host a Christmas party or meal.

By the time we had looked around, we were ready to enjoy or mains. Having gone on Ollie’s advice, we opted for two roast dishes. One being the Salmon Cut Silverside of Beef and the other being the Pulled Lamb Shoulder. Both of which served alongside za’atar roasted seasonal root vegetables, giant herby Yorkshire puddings, their house gravy and roasted potatoes, which were all cooked to utter perfection.

The meat was so tender, full to the brim with succulent juices that set our tongues on fire with endless amounts of flavour. Placed alongside the beautiful vegetables that were cooked to hold the right amount of crunch and crisp, the dishes took the classic roast dinner to new heights.

Something the Yorkshire puddings were definitely doing too, as we had never seen any as big as the ones we were given. When coated in the house gravy, the herbs within them burst into life in a way that no restaurant we’ve been to has achieved before. A fact reflected in the epic roast potatoes too, which had a crispy coating that even Michelin starred chefs would be jealous of.

With our bellies full to the brim with wonder, we weren’t sure what dessert to opt for. Seeking out Ollie again, we chose the wonderful Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream, Freeze Dried Raspberry Pieces and a superb Sticky Toffee Caramel Sauce that topped it all off perfectly. Digging in, we could tell that an argument may occur when it came down to who was going to be having the last bite.

The beautiful rich chocolate brownie melted into the sauce and ice cream in a delicious manner that we both couldn’t describe. The raspberry pieces added a slight tang to the piece. However, it was all wonderful! Honestly, it is going to take a lot to get a brownie to reach the levels of satisfaction that this one brought to us!

For £25 per person for two courses or £30 for three, Fearns is providing a service like no other in Leeds. Sundays come alive with their magnificent roasts and the Sunday Service menu is one that everyone should try at least once in their lives! We can’t wait to go back and try even more dishes, as they are truly incredible! Ollie and the team should be proud of everything they have created and more! Book up as soon as you can lovelies! I promise you won’t regret it!
