Five Easy Ways To Embrace The Cosy Season This September!
00:00:00Being cosy is my favourite thing in the world! I love the way that autumn and winter allow for us to stay in, wrapped up in a soft blanket, hidden from the cold outside! Therefore, with this in mind, I have come up with some snug ways to start the colder season sooner that will leave you feeling all warm and cosy inside!
Good Morning Lovelies,
We are fast approaching the middle of September and that means that October will soon be here and we can all begin to hibernate. As someone who comes alive during the colder seasons, I love staying in, all snuggled up under a blanket with a good box set on my TV. Honestly, as soon as Strictly Come Dancing starts, don’t expect me to go out!
Yet, I don’t just love the cosy season for that reason. I love the way that it can make us all stop and look after ourselves a lot more. With this in mind, I thought I would share some of the things I like to do to help us embrace the little things that bring us so much joy…
Have A Cosy Morning: Instead of rushing around, take a moment to breathe with your favourite warm drink, a cosy blanket and a good book. Or head out into the crisp fresh air and go to your favourite cafe to enjoy that drink handmade by someone else. Don’t rush to get everything done from the moment your eyes open, space it out and start the day in the best way. It will actually help you to stay motivated during those colder days.
Start An Autumn Routine: Summer normally means that all routines are thrown out the window, as the brighter days mean we forget all about time. In autumn though, you can bring back a sense of routine. Especially when September marks the start of a new term and school year. Pick up that journal you have been meaning to fill in all year and jote down all your wants and needs for the final months of the year. Then start implementing them. Wake up and go to bed at the same time to optimise those daylight hours. Make time to start a new hobby. Pick up that book you have been meaning to read. Cook the recipe you want to try. Make all of these a part of your routine and soon it will all flow together better.
Create A Cosy Nook: In our house, we have two cosy nooks. For me, I love to snuggle up in my room, which is where I work, watch TV and read. For my mum, it is the sofa in our living room, which she reclines back on, whilst wrapped up in her favourite throw to unwind after a busy day at work. Finding a space in your home to go and relax in is key to staying happy during the darker season. Whether it be under your duvet in bed or a big large armchair in the corner of the room, make it your space to boost your mood.
Don’t Rush To Make Big Plans: Although Christmas is often associated with doing lots and lots all at once, make September and the months leading up to it very chill. Don’t feel like you have to make any plans if you don’t want to. Spend the time doing what you want to do and forget about what others expect from you. If staying in with a girl dinner, reading a book or binging on Off Campus again and again is what you want to do, DO IT! In fact, if that is your thing, can I come and join in?
Embrace The Outdoors: September is still warm enough to be able to get outside and not worry about a big downpour. Use the opportunity to see autumn come flooding in. Watch the leaves turn brown and fall to the ground. Crush those crisp fragments with your feet. Breathe in the crisp cool air that our mornings are beginning to start with. Find your favourite autumn coat and boots combo, using the time outdoors to show them off. Have a picnic but make it full of warm drinks and toasties instead of picky bits. The great outdoors doesn’t have to be left behind now that summer is over. In fact, I find it to be even better during autumn, as things just look a lot prettier.
As an autumn person, I am very excited to see how the next few months play out. I am already prepared to embrace my best cosy jumpers, fluffy socks and PJs and a warm Vimto throughout it all. I hope that you can all find some peaceful moments this September to really start the cosy season right lovelies! It is time to get those big blankets out!
